BERGER/CROSSON Terraced Garden

This large backyard garden sloped down and butted up against open space. Using the curvilinear lines of a topographic map as inspiration, we added several terraces retained with custom walls of river rock, boulders and concrete. We added small patios and several places to sit and enjoy the different views of the garden, as well as a large patio at the bottom of the stairs. A swale distributing gray water flows through the upper levels down to the large flat area that is filled with UC Verde buffalo grass plugs that will fill in, (in about 3 months), under the drip line of a mature Black Walnut. Meandering paths crisscross the main pathways to connect to the many special corners of this vibrant space. A large custom metal and reed shade structure was built over the deck to replace the original shade sails and a custom metal arbor and gate frame the open space.

Locksley Garden

This lovely sloped backyard came with some minimal hardscaping including a raised deck and some urbanite retaining walls. We built on that and formalized the pathway, added a raised urbanite patio at the top the yard and incorporated the dead avocado tree that had to be removed into the landscaping. We also added a vibrant edible garden with a drip system.

BEFORE & AFTER

Meridian Front Yard

The front yard for this residence was done 8 months after the back yard. The design incorporated large boulders into a custom wall with a gate, low water cacti and native plants. I also spread wild flower seeds that will sprout seasonally.

Below are updates from SPRING 2020, showing the success of the wild flower seed spreading.

BEFORE/AFTERS

Coleman Makeover

These clients wanted a rehab of their existing garden after getting it installed years before in a way that never quite realized their dreams of Mexican Hacienda inspired yard. After remodeling their home, it was the perfect time to edit back their garden, introduce some unique pots and seed their growing space with wildflowers (all the green sprouts you see in the pics).

Below are a few snapshots from SPRING 2020, showing the maturation of the garden.

BEFORE/AFTERS

Meridian Landscaping

This 30'x30' foot space previously had non-native crab grasses and hedges without any definition. We created an inviting native/cactus garden, a custom fire pit seating area and a thriving raised bed edible garden. See BEFORE here.

Pollard Landscaping- Featured in Theadore Payne Native Garden Tour

This large back yard was a blank slate except for a beautiful mature Coast Live Oak. The design incorporated several outdoor dining and living areas, a large swale and a meandering path through native plants. This garden was featured in the 2017 Theadore Payne Native Garden Tour.

Below is a progress gallery of the garden the Spring after is was planted. The landscaping was finished in December, these pictures where taken the following April. We tossed California Poppy, Tidy Tips, Lupine and Baby Blue Eyes seeds over the decomposed granite and amongst the perennial natives and Cacti we planted and received a riotous Spring bloom that repeated the following Spring with very minimal intervention.

BEFORE/AFTER PICS

AVE 56 Landscaping-Featured in Theadore Payne Native Garden Tour

This large back yard facing due West was completely barren when we started working on it. Adding shade, sun loving native plants and several different areas to lounge was the goal, as well as a large and fruitful edible garden. This garden was selected for the 2017 & 2018 Theadore Payne Native Garden tour.

Above is a gallery of this garden in 2017, approximately 1.5 years since instillation.

Above are details of the garden to showcase some of the custom hardscaping to create shade and several seating/play areas and the various blooms available with a native, drought tolerant garden.
